For over 30 years, CSR has provided a broad spectrum of high quality services and programs to economically disadvantaged infants, children, adolescents and their families, thereby promoting and strengthening family life and individual growth. Founded with a specific mission to reach and serve populations that had been traditionally underserved, CSR was created by a dedicated group of activists who saw the need for community-based services for residents of Roxbury and its adjoining neighborhoods.

Throughout its history, CSR has partnered with government entities including the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the City of Boston, federal agencies, and various national foundations to improve the lives of children, families, and individuals at risk. A leader in providing child welfare and family services in Massachusetts, CSR is a member of the Child Welfare League of America and the Black Administrators in Child Welfare, and an affiliated agency of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. CSR is the largest minority-administered agency in Greater Boston, with deep roots in the neighborhoods of Boston, and an increasing capacity to serve communities statewide.

Since its inception, CSR has had a compelling presence and profound effect in the areas of child welfare, child care, and human services and has been a strong advocate and voice for constituencies who have historically been overlooked, poorly served, and voiceless. The agency is continually in the forefront of initiatives, advocacy efforts and services delivery. The positive results of the agency’s work have had significant statewide, regional and national recognition and impact.
