CSR believes that in strengthening families and individuals, we also strengthen communities. The agency has always sought out community partners to increase its capacity to serve its own clients and other community residents. CSR also extends its expertise, experience and resources to a number of other community and state agencies and serves as an advocate, technical advisor and mentor to community-based agencies throughout the Boston area.
The essential rationale for collaborating is threefold: to best meet the needs of the children, families and individuals that we serve; to share and benefit from expertise, knowledge and resources that are available throughout the city; and to support other community-based organizations in order to have a stronger voice in shaping and setting policy, accessing funding and other resources, and advocating for the clients and communities that we serve.
CSR is a member agency of the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) and the Black Administrators In Child Welfare (BACW) and is an affiliated agency of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. Other professional memberships include the Massachusetts Council of Human Service Providers, the Massachusetts Association of Day Care Agencies, the Children’s League of Massachusetts and the Special Needs Adoption Network. CSR continues its arrangements with a number of universities and colleges, including Simmons College, Northeastern University, Bridgewater State College, Harvard University, and Roxbury Community College, to sponsor such collaborative efforts as internship programs, student-consulting projects, and evaluation and monitoring of agency programs.
In addition to community partners and educational institutions, the agency also works closely with area health centers including Dimock Street, Whittier Street, Roxbury Comprehensive and South Cove, as well as area hospitals including Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, Massachusetts General and Beth Israel. CSR contracts with its state partners including DSS, DTA, DEEC, DPH, DMR, and DMH. All of these successful partnerships, and countless others, help to position CSR as a fruitful and effective partner in service delivery, advocacy, policy development and child welfare.
