Children most in need of adoption services in Massachusetts are children of color of all ages, sibling groups, African American males, children age 10 and up, and children with emotional, medical, physical and intellectual disabilities. Most children enter the system as a result of child protection intervention and have histories of abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and/or family violence.
A member of the Special Needs Adoption Network, our pre- and post-adoptive families can participate in support groups, training and other services. CSR adoption services primarily focus on child assessments; case management for children; adoption assessment of adoptive families; matching of adoptive parents with children; placement support; supervision to pre-adoptive families; and legalization of the adoption after the child has been in the home for at least six months. Through our Adoption Journeys Program in the Boston Region, we provide comprehensive post-adoptive services to children and families and post-legal support services, including consultation, information and referral.
