CSR's education philosophy is built upon the assumption that it takes a village to raise a child. We believe that educating children is a team effort, with teachers and parents working together in partnership. Our philosophy is that the school is an institution that provides assistance to parents in fulfilling the responsibility and complementing the training the child receives at home.

We believe that the home, school and other aspects of a child's experience educate the whole child in his/her preparation for adulthood. This approach is reflected in both our Early Care Education Center and our Worcester Family Daycare program. Since a child cannot be separated into isolated components, the school experience must be a holistic one that addresses each of those interrelated components in educating the child. These areas include:

  • Intellectual—The qualities of a child that enables him/her to master foundational academic tasks such as math, reading, spelling, language and writing.
  • Social—Interaction with others, both adults and children, in groups and on an individual level.
  • Emotional—The part of the child that identifies, understands and deals with his/her emotions, as well as how a child feels about themselves in terms of self-esteem.
  • Physical—Abilities of a child to master gross and fine motor skills in the framework of the child's ever-changing body.

Each child not only has individual strengths and weaknesses, but also exhibits change and growth in each of the above areas. Because of this, we believe a developmental, holistic approach to education is essential to maximize each child's potential.
